Fredom of Choice in any Circumstance

It doesn’t always feel like there are choices, does it? Some things are beyond our control, like the loss of a child, a divorce, or a difficult illness. Nonetheless, there are always choices. Our most powerful choices have to do with ourselves and our own character. We are always free to make choices about our own attitude. A willingness to be honest with ourselves and to make fresh decisions are also within reach.

Making 2009 the Best Year Yet

What are you planning for in 2009? Hopefully, you are planning for a great year. The world outside of us may not change drastically, but nothing can stop us from changing for the better – if we so choose. In the Bible, God tells us not to be dismayed by what we see in the world. Stock markets, wars, and even health-care issues can provide fuel for worry unless we resist and stand firm in our faith. When we change for the better, it is reflected in the world. One by one, we do make a difference. Let this year be a year of great victory for you and those whose lives you effect.

A Far From Perfect Holiday

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years… just three more days to fill our lives with joy and peace! Ahh…they were perfect weren’t they? What?! You say your holidays weren’t perfect? How strange!!

God is Active Everywhere

My daughter, Marina, and a team from Olathe, Kansas went on a missions trip to Chennai, India in October. The team was left with great joy after seeing that the hand of God is active everywhere, and that light from within a soul can shine bright in the darkest of circumstances. Resisting Temptation

What is so bad about being tempted? Well, temptation can lead to sin, or missing the mark. That doesn’t sound too bad so far, but sometimes we pay a very high price for failing to carefully assess our trajectory. Listen in today for motivation to nip in the bud our human tendency to court temptation. God has an offer for you and it’s one with strings. Maintaining a life line to our Creator is not only the source of ultimate peace, but supplies the wisdom and power we need to resist temptation!

Flirting with Temptation

There are lots of tempting things in this world: money, food, gossip, sex, power… What tempts you? None of us has a perfect record. Even Jesus, himself, was tempted. If we know that we have a weak area, what do we do? Do we guard ourselves by protecting our hearts? Flirting with temptation is like standing with our toes over the edge of a cliff. If we fall, the price may be very high.
